Chinijo Archipelago

The Chinijo Archipelago is situated to the northeast of Lanzarote and is designated as a protected natural area.

Chinijo is composed of 5 small islands: Montaña Clara, Alegranza, Roque del Este, Roque del Oeste y La Graciosa, of which only the latter is inhabited.

La Graciosa is the main island of this small and unique archipelago, and only the areas closest to Lanzarote’s coast are inhabited – Caleta del Sebo and Pedro Barba – with only around 600 residents.

The rest of the islets are uninhabited and difficult to visit as there are restrictions due to their protected status. However, there are occasionally organised trips for specific activities.

The islands have a diverse array of flora and fauna, which coexist in an unspoilt natural environment.
